Macon is home to many large public art displays. Murals cover huge surfaces, from parking garages to restaurants, and during Cherry Blossom season, storefronts often incorporate art. Bright pink cherry blossoms, pink-painted dogs, and many other motifs cover those windows throughout downtown Macon.
Macon native Jen Pruitt is the artist behind many of those painted windows. After starting her business, Macon Murals, a little over three years ago, she paints windows in the downtown area, as well as having painted two murals at Society Garden in midtown Macon.
“Creating brings me a lot of joy, and being able to create for other people and bring them joy is like one of the best feelings in the world,” Pruitt said, “It’s just really nice to be able to make someone’s vision come true.”
With the Cherry Blossom season, Pruitt’s been kept busy as her business has picked up. So far this season, you can catch her finished displays at H&H, The Rookery, Piedmont Brewery and Kitchen, and The Gentry, among others. “Being able to support other small businesses, that’s a really cool thing about it,” Pruitt said.
When she’s not painting, Pruitt is a part of the food service industry in Macon. William Hammet, Front of House Manager for Piedmont Brewery and Kitchen, said, “Word of mouth is what got her to come down and do it.”
While windows and murals are a big source of her creative output, they are not the only source; she also paints canvases because “just creating brings me a lot of joy,” Pruitt said. On Saturday, March 28, 2026, Pruitt set up a booth at the Cherry Blossom Art Market to sell her canvas works. She shares more of her work on Instagram.
