As the holiday season is approaching, some Christmas events are launching as soon as mid-November. The Spirit of Christmas Festival, The Christmas Light Extravaganza, and Bass Pro Shop’s Santa’s Wonderland are three of the many events happening around the Macon to get into the holiday spirit.
1.The Skipper Family Farm, which was established in 1912, will be hosting events through the end of the year that include The Sounds of a Christmas Concert on Nov. 22 at 5 p.m., Christmas Tree Opening Day on Nov. 24 at 2 p.m., and Elf on the Farm Hunt on Nov. 28 at 10 a.m. are some of the events that will follow The Spirit of Christmas Festival. The Spirit of Christmas Festival will be on Nov. 15, from 5-9 p.m. on 4164 Jones Road in Macon. This event will give you a Hallmark movie feel as you enjoy a nice stroll under the lights while enjoying treats, games, carolers, a night hayride, and many more festive activities.
2. The Christmas Light Extravaganza is one of the more well-known holiday events in the Macon area and attracts thousands of people each year to enjoy the scenery. This year the light show will be from Nov. 28 to Jan. 4. This event will kick off with a free concert from the Macon Pops at Addison Tinsley Park between First and Second Street downtown. Each weekend from Dec. 5-20 will be filled with events that include Selfies with Santa, Carriage Rides, and chances to see live Reindeer in person. All of these events will start at 6 p.m. each weekend and end at 10 p.m. The location for the Reindeer will be on Poplar Street between First Street and Second Street, and for the selfies and carriage rides the location will be on Poplar Street between Third Street and MLK Jr. Blvd.
3. Bass Pro Shop is hosting their annual Santa’s Wonderland events starting on Nov. 1 at 5 p.m. Each person can get one free 4X6 photo with Santa with the option to purchase photo packages. The free events that will take place include getting to see Santa arrive, a tree lighting, seasonal treats, and plush toys giveaways. Every weekday between Nov. 3 – Dec. 24, there will be free wooden ornaments, colorable frames, and shrink art given out at the shop for you to enjoy.
