The annual Macon Christmas Light Extravaganza is just around the corner and a new event will expand the downtown holiday celebrations.
Marché de Noel: Macon Christmas Market is a European-inspired holiday experience that seeks to complement the Christmas lights on display for all Maconites and visitors to see. The market will be open from Dec. 5-14.
“The new Macon Christmas Market expands and supports Macon on its rapid growth as a nationally renowned seasonal destination, and an annual holiday tradition for families in and around Central Georgia,” Marissa Rodgers, who is the VP & Chief Marketing Officer of Visit Macon, said in an email.
She said research done by Visit Macon saw the increased visitation to visit during the lights, but that capturing the audience downtown was short, as people tended to move elsewhere for shopping and dining opportunities.
According to Rodgers, this very experience seeks to further support in the growing popularity in Macon, especially during the holiday season.
“We have so much of that Downtown that we were looking for ways to capture them longer and help to advertise all of the options in the Downtown corridor,” Rodgers said. “The Christmas Market not only creates magical memories for families but also supports local artisans, small businesses and Downtown commerce while showcasing Macon as a vibrant holiday destination.”
