As fall and winter approach, the urgency to shelter the unhoused population grows more critical. The National Alliance to End Homelessness reported 21,186 GA residents entered homelessness in 2023. The nonprofit warns that significant weather changes can be critical for those who don’t have housing.
The Middle Georgia region is home to several organizations united with a common motive in improving the welfare of unhoused citizens. With the collaboration of organization directors, volunteers, and local community partners, several resources are available to promote long-term stability and support.
1. Brookdale Resource Center’s 90-day program offers families and children tailored support from caseworkers that meets their specific needs. Residents are guided on federal aid applications and assisted with enrolling children in schools.
Since its launch in 2021, the center has expanded its transitional housing to include additional care in an emergency shelter and a green space to provide fresh produce for residents’ meals. The overnight shelter is open 7 days a week and can be contacted during its operation hours from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. To call the center, use (478) 292-5123 for further information on their services for homelessness. Brookdale is located at 3600 Brookdale Ave, Macon, GA 31204.

This advice includes civil cases such as divorce or child custody. Legal action for attaining relief of physical violence requires several official hearings, including court appearances, law enforcement interviews, and medical examinations. All of which can be accompanied by a sexual assault advocate. The team also includes professional counselors for mental health support at no cost.
