When it comes to marking special occasions, sweet treats often do the trick. Whether you are craving sweet bars for a party, delectable cookies for a reunion, or handmade cakes for a birthday, the bakeries of Macon, Ga. have you covered with their homemade delicacies! Here are six must-try bakeries in Macon to treat your sweet tooth.


Felicia’s Cake Factory, LLC

Felicia Howard owns Felicia’s Cake Factory, LLC in downtown Macon. Howard’s shop offers a variety of treats from custom cake designs to cupcakes, slices, and much more. Howard has been in business since 2017 and continues to expand by offering retail items, eGift Cards, and pickup and delivery options. With a 4-star review on Yelp, customers speak highly of the friendly Atmosphere and the amazing flavors the shop can offer. Customers love the classes she offers.

“It was a fun time and awesome to connect. I would def do it again and the price was reasonable” said one online reviewer Tina T.

They are open from Wednesday to Saturday, 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM.


Mary Virginia Cakes

Mary Virginia Cakes on Cleveland Ave bakes everything from custom cakes to macarons and truffles. With flavors like Heritage lemon pineapple, Georgia Peach, and Chai pumpkin cake, she is here to serve your taste buds. The owner Mary Virginia Gage has been decorating and baking cakes since 1989. On her website, she writes “Look at each cake as a piece of art, and no two cakes are alike. Each one is created to have its originality and sense of character and is designed exclusively for you.

In one review Frannie S. wrote “At our cake tasting, my brother-in-law – who doesn’t even like cake – said ‘all of these options are the best cake I’ve ever had. Her cheese straws, cookies, and petit fours are also amazing!’ 

They are open from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. 


Oh Honey Baking Co

If you’re looking for delicious treats to accompany an amazing cup of coffee Oh Honey Baking Co. in Ingleside Village is the place. They serve cookies, blondies, donuts, brownies, coffee, cupcakes, and custom cakes. Since opening in 2022 the menu has been ever-evolving from new latte flavors to limited edition treats, breakfast burritos and sandwiches. The owner Adriana Horton came up with the theme of her store from her grandma’s love of collecting bumble bee brooches, which gave her the idea for the cafe’s name. Her website proudly boasts, “Cakes your grandma would approve of.” 

In one review, Rayna Steffen wrote, “When I walked into Oh Honey it felt like I walked into a ✨dream✨. When I tell you this is the exact vibe I want for my dream house one day & I’m going to design it just like this place… I’m not joking! The vibes are immaculate, it’s the right amount of cozy, and the coffee is delicious.”

They are open from Monday to Sunday with varying hours. 



Layers Bakery located on Vineville Ave. is owned by couple Reia and Steven Collins. The bakery has a 5-star rating on Yelp and offers a variety of baked goods from mouth-melting Cheesecakes, cakes, Banana pudding and themed treats. Their signature white velvet cake won them first place in Macon’s Star Baker competition in 2023. Layers also received the 2024 Pink Provision Award for People’s Choice this year. Customers say they love the family atmosphere. 

“The quality of baking is done with care and the cakes take away your worries from first bite. We will be back! Do not pass this gem without stopping in!” wrote Adam C in one review.

Layers is open from Tuesday- Saturday from 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. 


Bakery to Go, Inc

Brett Self and Patrice Robert are true artisans. These bakers combine traditional techniques with modern ones to produce their baked goods, ranging from pastries and cookies to fresh bread and more. Brett attributes his love of baking to his grandmother. Patrice grew up in the south of France and eventually apprenticed under a Parisian Master Chef. They mix this love of the craft with the best grains from local millers to create their baked goods available across the state.  Customers can order online and pick up the goods at a farmers market of choice like Macons Poplar St Market or Macon State Farmer’s Market locally. Patrice and Brett always say “The heart of Bakery to Go is a love for life, good food, good friends, and delicious meals. We believe life is an event. Eat well.” 

DeAnna Dee exclaimed in an online review, “About ten of my friends got to taste your fabulous citrus sugar cookies and everyone said they were soooo good!”

LisaMae Cakes 

LisaMae Cakes offers beautiful wedding cakes and customized celebration cakes in flavors like lemon pound cake, decadent chocolate, vanilla bean, and carrot. Lisa Mae Cakes works by appointment.
