Mercer Tutors Making an Impact

Peer tutoring at Mercer University’s Academic Resource Center (ARC) gives students an opportunity to learn from each other. The tutoring provided is inclusive, free, and does not require appointment. Featured below are four peer tutors at Mercer’s ARC.

Robin Lin is an accounting tutor. He got into tutoring by his professor who recommended him doing it. “I thought it would be a good opportunity to build my resume and connect with students, also while helping them,” says Lin.

Morgan Dykes is a junior that tutors in chemistry and biology. Dykes is very passionate about teaching and helping people. Currently, she is in her second year as a tutor.” When discussing tutoring, Dykes says it “continuously helps her strengthen her foundation.”

Keith Holmes Jr. is a writing tutor. Holmes got into tutoring after he decided he wanted to be a professor. He believed a good step towards that goal would be tutoring. “I really like helping people in general, but I also like helping people in my chosen field (writing).” says Holmes.

Lucas Davis is a senior that tutors in writing. This is currently his second semester tutoring at Mercer. “It (tutoring) has been a really great experience. Working with students from all over campus has a really great experience!” says Davis. He got into tutoring from the recommendation of his writing, Dr. Senasi.
