The entrance plaque to Old City Cemetery on Nov. 30, 2022.

These are the graves of a parent and child within Old City Cemetery in Macon, Ga. The names of each have faded away since the cemetery’s establishment in the 1800s, and all that remains is a broken child’s grave next to their respective parent. Their bodies were relocated to Rose Hill Cemetery where restored graves can be found. This photo was taken on Nov. 30, 2022.

This is a fallen gravestone found in Old City Cemetery located in Macon, Ga. The cemetery was abandoned after the bodies were removed and relocated, yet some of the gravestones remain. Of the remaining gravestones in Old City Cemetery, there are many broken and slanted gravestones, but this is the only one that lays face down.This photo was taken on Nov. 30, 2022.

This photo shows the grave of Mary Eliza Casseus, daughter of Reverend Samuel J. Casseus. Casseus passed away in May 1838. Casseus’ grave is one of the few graves within Old City Cemetery that was restored by the First Presbyterian Church in 1963. This photo was taken on Nov. 30, 2022 in Macon, Ga.

This is a sunken grave covered with bricks on Nov. 30, 2022. The name, like many others, on this gravestone has faded to the point where it cannot be read.
