CollegeTown Film Series Happening Now

Three Universities, one classroom, happening this month, some middle Georgia students are learning together and getting in a good show at the same time.

Happening on Thursday, Mercer University, Middle Georgia State University and Wesleyan College are all teaming up for the College Town Film Series. Film professors will rotate presenting different, international films to the students, followed by a group discussion about their take on the feature.

“I want students to be exposed to different kinds of films, right? Films from different countries, different traditions, films that might challenge them in a way that some of the regular film fare doesn’t,” says Michelle Prettyman, a professor at Mercer University.

Organizers hope the audience is introduced to both a new way learning and some truly unique movies.

“I can’t think of any other on-going student activities cooperative event that involves the three colleges and the idea was it would be nice to bring students from those institutions together,” says Robert Burnham, a professor at Middle Georgia State University.

The film festival is continuing at the Douglas Theater for the next two Thursday evenings. Students with a valid school ID get in free. General admission is $5. The movie will begin at 7:30.
