Local musicians on the rise
Macon is a musical city, that has given rise to musical legends such as Little Richard, Otis Redding and The Allman Brothers Band. Although these musicians have retired from the industry their influence continues to inspire and motivate the next generation of musicians. Macon is the mother of local musicians, the city offers platforms for aspiring artists to grow and developed their craft while providing exposure to possible audiences.
“Music has always been a passion of mine. I really can’t remember what started it but I’ve always loved to do it,” Meeks said.
Meeks is a local artist who has performed locally for the past ten years at venues like Bearfoot Tavern, The Crazy Bull, Doughboy Pizza and Travis Jean Emporium. She has also traveled and performed in Greenville, South Carolina, Washington D.C. and New Orleans, Louisiana. For the last three years, Meeks has been performing exclusively as a solo artist.
Since childhood, Meeks has always loved to sing. Growing up, she took guitar and piano lessons and sang in her high school jazz ensemble. Meeks says she was inspired and influenced by the sounds of 1970s icons such as Marvin Gaye, Al Green and Hall & Oates. Meeks also covers popular music but describes her personal sound as emotional soul and rhythm and blues with a splash of pop.
Meeks is continually inspired by the feeling she experiences while performing on stage.
“The oneness I experience with the music, it’s as if the world has stopped and the only thing that exists is me and the music,” Meeks said. “It’s a great feeling to know people are happy listening to your music.”

LoganTRU is a local Christian artist who grew up in a musical family. Although she is a solo artist, she often collaborates with other local musicians and bands for performances. LoganTRU was inspired to fully commit to Christian music after she received an overwhelmingly positive response for covering Yolanda Adams’ “I Believe” at a middle school talent show.
“I’ve always loved singing and music, just listening to music I would envision how the music video should be,” she said. “Fight for your dreams. Keep going, don’t give up, you don’t know what doors God will open for you.”

Hindsight is a local band consisting of Brent McKinney on bass, Hunter Pettis on drums, Jacob Viator on guitar and Caleb Melvin on guitar and performing vocals. Prior to the official formation of Hindsight, the members had worked together musically in several places ranging from church to a high school band.
Hindsight describes their musical sound as Foo Fighter meets Weezer, Kings of Leon and Radiohead all with a southern drawl.
“We all make the band individually, everybody plays a huge part and our influences become one. There’s definitely something different about all of us playing together, versus us playing with other people individually. When we all play together, it just feels natural,” McKinney said.
