With a wide variety of household items and building supplies, the ReStore retail outlet provides the public with new and gently used inventory. Donations include furniture, doors and windows, home appliances, electronics, and lighting fixtures. According to the Macon Area Habitat for Humanity, the organization has serviced Macon with a vision to provide families with safe homes and improved shelter conditions. The nonprofit has built 98 homes in the community and contributes to local and worldwide housing needs. You can shop at Restore Tuesday through Friday, from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia
In two local thrift store locations, you can find a large selection of clothing and appliances that are donated by members of the community. Some items include linens, furniture, washer and refrigerators, glassware, and lawn equipment. All proceeds to the organization contribute to its life-recovery program. Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia offers counseling, bible study, and recovery therapy for men, women, and children who struggle with addiction, abuse, or are facing troubling challenges. To donate, items listed in the criteria on their website can be dropped off in five bin locations in the Middle Georgia area. Both store locations are open to the public six days a week, from Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Wear
All of Wear’s profits support Daybreak, a resource center with services for individuals who are affected by homelessness in Macon. The thrift store carries men’s, women’s, and children’s clothes and other small household items or accessories. The staff strives to provide affordable outfits while ensuring funds are sent to services to help individuals recover with stability. Every Tuesday they launch a new weekly sale customers can shop for until Sunday. Hours for Wear are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. between Tuesday to Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Tags of Hope Thrift Shoppe
The volunteer-based store works directly with the faith-based organization, The Methodist Home for Children & Youth. Funds raised by the donated items to Tags of Hope Thrift Shoppe support Eagle’s Nest Children’s Center, one of the several residential sites for children in Georgia. Their childcare service aim for children to grow in an environment of hope and become healthy adults in society. To support their cause, the shop offers an array of household items, including furniture, holiday decor, and name-brand clothing available 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from Tuesday to Friday, and on Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Goodwill
According to Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA, the second-hand store was founded in Macon in 1975 to help individuals with disabilities and special needs. The industries offer the community job opportunities to relieve unemployment and promote workplace skills. Prices of items are based on the tag colors, with additional discounts for affordable shopping. In Goodwill you can find well-conditioned donations such as books, computers, DVDs, electronics, athleisure equipment, and clothing. Goodwill runs four retails stores in Macon — Zebulon Road, Houston Avenue, Forsyth Road and Eisenhower Parkway — and most are open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day but Sunday when the hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
