Friends-themed Trivia Night
“How you doin’?” The answer will be great if you head down to Society Garden for trivia night. The fun starts at 7 p.m. and includes prizes, specialty cocktails and more. Could it be any more fun?!?

The Hummingbird
A group of Middle Georgia’s most talented DJs take the stage for a night of high energy and free expression. We’re talking lots of lights and lasers, artist vendor booths, and dubstep and trap beats.

Saturday, May 25
Bacon and a Beach Bash
Get whisked away by tropical vibes and lively music Memorial Day Weekend, at the Macon Pops’ beach bash at the Macon Museum of Arts & Sciences Amphitheater. Bring your lawn chairs and cooler and enjoy songs by the Beach Boy (of course!), Jimmy Buffet, Zac Brown Band, and more. Arrive early (4 pm) to get free entry into the museum and a meet and greet with a zoo animal.

Jazz in the Courtyard
Enjoy Jazz in the Courtyard as Macon’s Levita Carter & Friends take center stage for a free concert outside the Douglass Theatre. Carter’s a long-time Bibb County educator known for staging large scale school musical productions that really light up the stage. This smaller, more casual venue is a perfect way to kick back before another work week begins.

Monday, May 27
It’s time for Amerson River Park‘s annual Memorial Day float and cleanup event. Bring a tube, kayak or paddle board, and be sure to have a life vest and a trash bag. When you’re done making it “better than you found it”, you can walk, ride or run the seven miles of trails, explore hundreds of acres of forest, meadows and wetlands, and play on the state-of-the-art playground.

Tuesday, May 28
Just a few more days left to see internationally-acclaimed figurative, portrait and animal sculptor Matt Donner‘s solo exhibit Evocative Animals at Macon Arts Gallery. Matt was born and raised in Macon and earned his BFA in Sculpting at the University of Georgia.

Wednesday, May 29
Do flamingos like bacon? Find out as the Macon Bacon host the Florence (SC) Flamingos at Luther Williams Field in the first week of 2024 play in the Coastal Plain League. Individual tickets are $15-$30. Multi-game ticket plans start at $17/game and include unlimited food and drink and other perks.

And finally (drum roll…….) Introducing “Hop, Skip & a Jump”: One suggestion each week that’s not in Macon, but close enough for a day trip. Our inaugural pick: 2024 Atlanta Jazz Festival. This year’s headliners include jazz supergroup Something Else!, 16-time Grammy and Latin Grammy award winner Paquito D’Rivera, and renowned vocalist/songwriter and Hahira (GA) native Lizz Wright. Check out the full three-day festival lineup and make plans to enjoy this free, three-day event.
