Beliebers vs. Swifities Dance Party feat. DJ Laylo at The Hummingbird Stage and Taproom

The “Bird” has done theme nights before, but this is their first “VS.” dance party. Fan favorite and Macon local DJ Laylo will be mixing and mashing both Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift’s songs throughout the night. The event is less a competition between “Beliebers” and “Swifties” and more a celebration of Beliebers and Swifties.

Let’s Go Dancing at The Howard Community Club

Are you a waltzing wonder? A merengue master? A complete novice who wants to develop their twinkle toes? Let’s Go Dancing is holding its monthly dance session at The Howard Community Center. The public can dance along regardless of their skill level. There will be Early Bird and raffles as well.

Mercer Fan Appreciation Day at Mercer University

Football, volleyball, soccer. So many great college sports are synonymous with fall. In anticipation of crisp, autumn afternoons with cheering crowds Mercer is holding their annual Fan Appreciation Day. There will be a “Meet the Bears” autograph and photo session with current Mercer fall sports team members, snow cones, and a bounce house. At 6 p.m. there will be a football scrimmage at Five Star Field to show the fans what they can expect from the Bears this coming football season.

Muscadine Bloodline at the Hargray Capitol Theatre

This Alabama-founded country duo that refers to themselves as, “Proudly independent and unapologetically Southern” plays the Capitol on Saturday night. Their current “Country Band and Contraband” tour is in support of their new album “Dispatch to 16th Ave.” In a review of their new album, Billboard.com said of the band, “This duo is determined to eschew any restraints in order to forge their own signature sound, and are better for it.”

Macon Film Guild Presents “Official Selection” at The Douglass Theatre

This Rated R, Spanish-language film got a Rotten Tomatoes score of 97 percent. Starring Penelope Cruz and Antonio Banderas, this 2022 film satirizes art, ego and film. There will be a discussion about the movie after the 2 p.m. screening. Please note that masks are required.

Paint Like the Masters: Hopper at the 567 Center for Renewal

Most people may be familiar with Edward Hopper’s “Nighthawks,” but he is best known for painting lighthouses in art circles. The 567 is offering a three-week acrylic painting course where intermediate students will create a painting based on Hopper’s lighthouse works.

Protecting Macon/Middle Georgia’s Environment at the Bibb County Extension Center

Macon-Bibb’s Director of Parks and Beautification Mike Glisson will lecture on how citizens can protect biodiversity with eco-friendly landscaping practices. In addition, Glisson will speak on how Macon-Bibb received “Tree City USA” status.
