How to eat like you’re at The Masters
This week, not too far down the road from Macon, the Masters golf tournament will be taking place at the Augusta National Golf Club.
The Masters is one of the most prestigious golf tournaments in the world, and while the tournament has many infamous qualities, the concessions are a fan favorite.
The prices of concessions at the tournament aren’t marked up like other sporting events, you can get a pimento cheese sandwich for just $1.50. If the thought of that makes your mouth water, here are a few ways to eat like you’re at the Masters from home.
Pimento Cheese Sandwich
The pimento cheese sandwich is without a doubt the most iconic food item from the Masters. Pimento cheese is a Southern staple, and you can buy it at most grocery stores, in the South at least.
The brand Palmetto Cheese is one of the most popular brands, and it is sold at many grocery stores across the country. Get yourself a container, put it on some white bread and transport yourself to Amen Corner from the comfort of your living room.
Egg Salad Sandwich
Another great sandwich served at the Masters is the egg salad sandwich. If pimento cheese is hard to come by, most grocery stores have fresh egg salad in their deli section.
Pick up some egg salad and some bread, and you’re good to go. If you can’t decide between egg salad and pimento cheese, why not make both?
Georgia Peach Ice Cream Sandwich
Georgia weather can be crazy and sometimes the temperature will rise to over 80 degrees in April. When that happens, the best way patrons cool off at the Masters is to grab one of these ice cream sandwiches.
This ice cream sandwich gives people from all over the world a taste of what Georgia is all about, peaches. Enjoy this dessert at home by buying a pint of peach ice cream and some sugar cookie dough. Bake the cookies and make sure they cool! Put a scoop of ice cream in between two cookies, thank me later.
Arnold Palmer
Named after the golf great himself, an Arnold Palmer contains two of the South’s most refreshing beverages; sweet tea and lemonade.
To make this drink, make half a gallon of sweet tea and half a gallon of lemonade and then mix them together. Or, if you don’t feel like making it, Arizona Tea sells this classic beverage in a can.
Make these iconic Masters concessions at home while you enjoy seeing your favorite golfers play the course. Before you know it, you will feel like you’re at the Augusta National. Happy Masters week, y’all!
Will you be watching the Masters this week?
