What are the Macon area’s biggest challenges for folks trying to get from Point A to Point B, and how can local leaders make it easier for people to get around?
Those are some of the things the Macon Area Transportation Study wants to know as they update the Metropolitan Transportation Plan, a task that occurs every four to five years to maintain eligibility for federal grants.
That plan will be the blueprint over the next 30 years for major transportation projects in Macon-Bibb County and parts of Jones and Monroe that are in the Metropolitan Planning Organization.
A short survey is available online to provide guidance on local transportation needs, and in-person presentations are also scheduled.
Saturday, transportation planners will have a booth at the Pan African Festival at Henderson Stadium from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. They will offer activities that will allow you to share your vision for transportation in the region.
A Community Open House also is planned for Thursday, May 6, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the MATS Office, which is in the Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission suite at Macon Mall.
