Tiny Market Located in the Mountains of the Dominican Republic
Agriculture is a big part of the region around El Cercado, Dominican Republic. Farmers in the area grow everything from fruits like bananas, plantains, mangoes and passionfruit to celery, leeks, beans, parsley, eggplant, peppers, potatoes and tobacco.
Much of this locally grown produce is sold in a street market every Tuesday and Friday. The market also features housewares and clothing — much of it imported from the nearby Haitan border.
Bring a tote bag (or several) and stock up on goods, every Tuesday and Friday.
