Unique Tank Construction Highlights Dominican Republic Work

The finished water tank in Sabana Bonita. Mercer engineering students worked with the Sabana Bonita community to construct the tank from locally-sourced rocks, concrete and rebar. A small opening will later be cut into the top of the tank and the inside will be plastered before it is filled with water.

The bi-weekly market in El Cercado, Dominican Republic features a variety of locally grown produce as well as housewares and clothing.

Tiny Market Located in the Mountains of the Dominican Republic

Mercer engineering students, along with Sabana Bonita community members construct the water tank walls with stone and mortar. Community members had to sign up for shifts to help construct the tank in addition to paying the fees to maintain the tank.
