Bibb Schools welcomes applications for new superintendent
Applications are now being accepted for Bibb County Schools’ next superintendent.
The job opening was posted Wednesday on Georgia School Boards Association’s website. The deadline to apply is Jan. 16.
Superintendent Curtis Jones, leader and chief executive officer for the district since 2015, announced in September his plans to retire at the end of June 2022.
The school board contracted with GSBA in October to help search for his replacement.
Requirements for the job, according to the application, include:
- Proven track record of success as an educational leader in a district with similar demographics and variables
- Possesses the leadership skills required to analyze and support the district’s mission/vision and can identify, articulate and implement in a manner that ensures that the needs of all students, staff and other stakeholders are met
- Possesses strong instructional foundation and demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of current research-based practices in teaching and learning, instructional administration, techniques and programs that enhance instructional capacity and maximizes student learning
- A demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders, faculty/staff, community members, respond to diverse community interests and needs; is approachable and able to mobilize community resources in support of student achievement goals
- Willingness to reside in Bibb County
The school board will work with GSBA to review applications submitted by the January deadline.
State law requires the school board to make public the names and applications of as many as three candidates being considered for the job at least 14 days before the meeting at which it votes on the appointment.
