How-To Repurpose Halloween Candy

Sometimes after Halloween, you are left with what seems like a mountain of Halloween candy. Instead of throwing your leftovers away or letting them sit in your pantry for years, you can incorporate them into tasty treats. These easy recipes will make use of your leftover Halloween candy, so you don’t have to feel guilty about throwing it away.

Halloween Candy Bark

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups bittersweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups assorted candy

Directions:

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut the different candies into bite-size pieces.
  3. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave, stirring until smooth.
  4. Pour the chocolate onto the parchment paper and, using a spatula, spread it into an even layer that is about a quarter inch thick.
  5. Sprinkle the chopped candy on top of the chocolate.
  6. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator to harden for 30 to 45 minutes.
  7. Once it has hardened, remove from the refrigerator and carefully cut the bark into pieces.
  8. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in a cool place.

Peanut Butter Candy Bar Fudge

Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup butter
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • ⅔ cup evaporated milk
  • 1 ¾ cups Reese’s peanut butter chips, coarsely chopped
  • 7 oz jar of marshmallow creme
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups assorted candy

Directions:

  1. Coat a 9×13 baking pan with cooking spray and line with parchment paper.
  2. Combine butter, sugar and evaporated milk in a saucepan.
  3. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently.
  4. Once it comes to boil, boil for five minutes, stirring continuously.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter chips.
  6. Stir in marshmallow creme and vanilla extract.
  7. Sprinkle one-third of the candies in the bottom of the baking dish.
  8. Pour half of the hot mixture over the candy.
  9. Add another one-third of the candy.
  10. Pour the remaining mixture on top.
  11. Sprinkle the rest of the candy on top and let cool at room temperature.
  12. Cut into squares and serve.

Witch’s Brew Brownies

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of brownie mix (ingredients included on the back)
  • Leftover Halloween candy (any kind)
  • Edible eyes (optional)

Directions:

  1. Make brownies according to package instructions.
  2. Pour brownie mix into pan and top with Halloween candy (save half of the candy for later).
  3. Bake according to package instructions.
  4. Five minutes before the brownies are finished baking add the remaining candy to the top.
  5. When the brownies are done baking remove from oven and add the edible eyes. Let cool and serve.
