Curator Jeff Bruce on his path and work at the Tubman African American Museum
Director of Exhibitions at the Tubman African American Museum Jeff Bruce shares his own path; how a friend helped him find his passion curating exhibitions and how he now uses storytelling to reach audiences.
“It’s all about telling local stories that illuminate and illustrate and provide context for national events and national issues,” he says, “We are interested in getting this information to people but through the form of storytelling.”

I took pains to explain that I was wearing the shirt with the hole in it and paint on it because I was painting in the gallery that day. Cutting that out makes it seem like I don’t know, or don’t care, that there is a big ole hole in my shirt for the world to see! But otherwise it is a very nice piece, and I was happy to participate, and I hope everyone involved got good grades because everyone was very nice. thanks for sharing this with me.
