Convenience store alcohol licenses and street light applications dominated discussion at Tuesday’s meetings of the Macon-Bibb County Commission.

The county no longer allows alcohol licenses for convenience stores that do not sell fuel or fresh food that includes five kinds of fruits and vegetables.

Two stores appealed alcohol license denials during the commission’s committee of the whole meeting that preceded their regular session.

Commissioners also went into executive session, which Commissioner Virgil Watkins questioned why closing the meeting was necessary to discuss school zone speed cameras. County Attorney Duke Groover said it was due to possible pending litigation.
