Macon Bike Party: Ocmulgee Expedition presented by Bike Walk Macon

Bill Causey, Ocmulgee Heritage Trail expert and avid biker, leads this slow-paced group ride around the Ocmulgee Mounds. The ride is appropriate for all ages and skill levels. Registration for the ride will be held at the Mill Hill Community Arts Center at 213 Clinton St., 31217

Gran’ Canzon: Treasures of the 17th Century Italy

The Amethyst Baroque ensemble brings the best of 17th-century Italian music to St. Joseph’s Church during this event. Italian music in the 17th century was known for the development of opera, instrumental sonatas and trio sonatas. The concert will feature selections from Monteverdi, Castello, and other icons of the 17th century.

First Street Art & Wine Festival

This two-day festival centered on First Street is a celebration of all things wine and art. Things kick off on Friday night when Just Tap’d will offer wine flights with cheese pairings and the 567 Center offers their “Corks and Canvas” class at 7 p.m.. On Saturday beginning at 3 p.m. and wrapping up at 7 p.m, there will be an artists market in front of Just Tap’d. Just two doors down from Just Tap’d, The Pearl will offer an in-house sommelier and a live painting exhibition. Down at the 576 Center they will be exhibiting artwork from local artist Hearthly Wakefield and Cochran native Jonathan Harwell-Dye.

Murder on the Orient Express presented by Macon Little Theatre

A dead body has been found in a locked compartment on the elegant Orient Express train on its way back from the Middle East. Can Belgian detective Hercule Poirot solve the crime before the murderer strikes again? Macon Little Theatre takes on this classic starting on Sept. 9 and closing on Sept. 17.

Big “O” Homecoming Show at The Hargray Theatre

Back in the 1960s, Macon native Otis Redding would bring his musical peers to perform at the Macon City Auditorium. He called it a “Homecoming Show.” Fast forward 60 years and the Otis Redding Foundation is bringing back the tradition. War and Treaty, with performances by Monophonics, Kendra Morris, DKOMX, Aläz and Reese Soul are a part of the 2022 Homecomingcoming show, this time being held at The Hargray Capitol Theatre.

The Tribe Macon: Live on Broadway at the Grand Opera House

Macon drag troupe, “The Tribe” lip syncs and struts their stuff to the best of Broadway musicals at this event at the Grand Opera House. The queens will perform works from “Hamilton,” “Pippin,” “Kinky Boots” and more.

The Temptations and The Four Tops at the Macon City Auditorium

The Temptations and the Four Tops concert is the first show in the Macon City Auditorium since they began their approximately $10 million dollar renovation of the nearly 100-year-old building. The tour is a part of The Temptations’ 60th anniversary as a group and in support of their new album “Temptations 60.” The group has gone through many variations but original member Dr. Otis Williams is still touring with the group. Co-headliner, The Four Tops, are just as legendary with hits like “It’s the Same Old Song” and “Baby I Need Your Loving.” Original Four Tops member, Abdul “Duke” Fakir is still performing with the group.

Senior Cinema at The Douglass Theatre

Senior Cinema is a free movie screening for seniors held every second Wednesday at the Douglass Theatre. This month’s free movie is “Sparkle,” a 2012 film that was co-produced and stars the late Whitney Houston as the mother of three daughters who become a girl group in 1968 Detroit. The film received mixed reviews when released but Carmen Ejogo’s (who plays Sister Anderson in the film) performance received critical praise.
