New laws regulating bars and nightclubs serving alcohol took effect July 1 in Macon.

Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller scheduled two public meetings this week to inform the public of the changes in the law that went into effect July 1.

During Tuesday’s meeting in Commission Chambers of City Hall, Senior Assistant County Attorney Michael McNeill outlined the new regulations that soon will be enforced by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Another meeting is scheduled Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Commission Chambers of City Hall.
